Achievements

Since taking office in 2010, Kyle has worked to strengthen rural Kansas through fiscally responsible budgeting, tax relief, regulatory reform, and investments in local communities.


Legislation Sponsored & Passed

  • Protected small businesses and communities from burdensome regulations.
  • Reduced regulations on commercial vehicles and trailers under 20,000 pounds operating within Kansas.
  • Reduced regulations on certain cotton trailers operating within Kansas.
  • Updated the Neighborhood Revitalization Program to make it easier for smaller communities to qualify for and administer the program.

Budget Priorities Secured

  • Secured $4 million to construct natural gas pipelines serving Hardtner, Sawyer, and Sharon, ensuring reliable natural gas service for years to come.
  • Secured $500,000 in the first year and $350,000 in the second year for Core Ministries in Kiowa County to provide financial education and assistance for individuals facing hardship.
  • Provided up to $500 million over four years to help small communities meet local cost-share requirements for grants through the federal Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.
  • Secured $2 million for crisis pregnancy centers assisting mothers and families in need.
  • Supported grants and funding for numerous communities and local organizations throughout the district.
  • Established wildfire relief grants to help local fire departments recover extraordinary expenses from major wildfires.

Tax Relief Supported

  • Eliminated the state portion of the property tax levy and tripled the residential exemption.
  • Eliminated the state sales tax on groceries.
  • Lowered state income tax rates and eliminated the state income tax on Social Security benefits.
  • Expanded tax relief for seniors, veterans, and families with child care expenses.
  • Strengthened taxpayers' ability to challenge excessive property tax increases.

Additional Legislative Priorities

  • Supported legislation protecting women's sports.
  • Modernized Kansas laws to better protect children from fentanyl and online exploitation.
  • Protected local pharmacies from unfair pricing practices by pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs).
  • Increased penalties for theft involving livestock, implements of husbandry, grain, and hay.
  • Provided lifetime discounted hunting and fishing licenses for Kansas residents age 65 and older.
  • Allowed tax deductions for eligible contributions to qualified health care sharing ministries.
