Farmer. Leader. Public Servant.
Kyle and his wife, Kristi, live south of Coldwater, where he manages the family farm. Together, they raised two daughters, Anna and Abigail, who are now adults. A 1990 graduate of Coldwater High School, Kyle earned a bachelor's degree in Agriculture Technology and Management from Kansas State University in 1994 before returning home to help manage the family farm. His commitment to agriculture and his community led him to become actively involved with the local Farm Bureau, serving as chairman of the Comanche County Farm Bureau for several years. In the late 1990s, he also taught marketing through the Farm Bureau's Market Mentors program.
Kyle served on the Comanche County Conservation District Board for 21 years, including nine years as chairman. He later represented 24 counties as the Area II Director on the Kansas Association of Conservation Districts (KACD) Board for three years. Prior to that role, he chaired the KACD Finance and Development Committee and served on the State Technical Committee as KACD's representative.
His commitment to service extends beyond agriculture. Kyle is a member of the Medicine Lodge Lions Club and a founding board member of the Chief Community Theater in Coldwater. He currently serves on the Barclay College Board of Directors in Haviland and previously served six years on the Pratt Community College Foundation Board, where he continues to advocate for both community and private colleges in Kansas. Kyle and Kristi served for nearly 10 years as Fellowship of Christian Athletes sponsors at Coldwater High School and later South Central High School. They are members of Coldwater Assembly of God, where Kyle serves as treasurer.
Kyle has represented the 116th District in the Kansas House of Representatives since his election in 2010. He currently serves as Assistant Majority Leader, a member of the Appropriations Committee, Vice Chairman of the Joint Committee on Information Technology, and a member of the Committee on Interstate Cooperation. He also represents Kansas on the multi-state Energy Council and served as its chairman from 2018 to 2019. Previously, he chaired both the House Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee and the House Agriculture Budget Committee. In 2013 and 2014, he also served as House Majority Caucus Chair.
A fiscal and social conservative, Kyle believes government growth and taxes should be kept to a minimum to encourage economic opportunity and long-term prosperity while still providing essential public services. He is a strong supporter of private enterprise and believes Kansas cannot tax and spend its way to prosperity. He also believes in maintaining a strong public education system while preserving parental choice in education. A committed pro-life advocate, Kyle believes life begins at conception. As a life member of the NRA, he supports the Second Amendment and remains a steadfast advocate for the constitutional rights of Kansas gun owners.
